ESCALON HALLOWEEN PROJECT 2003

Last Updated 11-2-2004

If I was asked to describe our 2003 Halloween Project in as few words as possible, they would definitely be "Grand Disappointment". What do I mean by that exactly, you ask? Well we put on a Grand show for a disappointingly small Halloween turn out.

We were all quite surprised to find that we had substantially less Trick or Treat'ers on a Friday night than we did on a Thursday the previous year.

Another sad thing is that because of several technical snags (including a sudden midnight downpour and the loss of both our video cameras) we were unable to take many pictures. So it looks (sadly enough) as if we actually did more for the 2002 project than we did for the 2003.

Also one of our biggest effects, "The Ring", is a multimedia effect that is nearly impossible to photograph and lacks the "real life" impact that the sound effects provided.

The House as it appeared in the early Halloween afternoon

This is another shot of the Old Lady House with its roof on but the window boxes have not been put in place yet. We would later run a black and brown scrim across from the house to the tree to its right.

Matt is seen here getting the inside of the Old Lady House wired up. Later that night when the effects were all up and running Matt hid inside the house and ran the high powered Fog Machine.

An accidental flash photo shows our lady of the doorway effect. You can see the shower curtain rod that we had to use as a last minute fix when the hidden wires that supported her head broke.

Our Lady of the Doorway in all of her ghostly splendor.

The House and Graveyard during one of our many test runs

This is a photo of a test run of the incomplete Old Lady's House effect. This is the only picture where you can see the curtain and flickering candle light. Note that all but the top of the window frame is missing.
A look at the OLH's roof detail. We were quite pleased at how well masking tape and dry brushing worked.

She's been waiting an eternity to see you!

And another

This is by far the best picture of the ring effect we got on film that year. You can actually see the living room window off to the left of it.

The Classic Black Light and Fog effects never get old! We employed 6 fog machines of varying power this year to get the desired effect.

Jason is seen here filling one of our Fog Machines for the first time this year!
